The Virchow GrossBot is robotic system integrated with advanced computer vision to automate the gross examination of small biopsy specimens. It is engineered to perform the most repetitive and error-prone steps of the grossing process, including container handling, tissue orientation, measurement, image capture, and description generation.

Virchow addresses workforce shortages, preanalytical variability, and bottlenecks in pathology labs by offering a scalable, always-on solution built for modern histopathology workflows.

Key Technical Features

🤖 Robotic Automation System

Automated lid removal and specimen retrieval from formalin containers

Gentle tissue handling via precision-guided manipulators

Multi-angle macro imaging for documentation and review

🧠 AI-Powered VirchowVision Engine

Trained on thousands of biopsy images

Identifies tissue fragments, estimates dimensions.

Outputs structured gross descriptions in standardized terminology

🧾 Smart Gross Description Generation

AI converts visual data into structured gross dictation

Optional LIMS export in HL7 or PDF format Supports specimen types: GI biopsies, endometrial samples, skin shaves, etc.

🔄 24/7 Workflow Integration

Designed for continuous operation across multiple shifts

Modular build allows multiple units to operate in parallel
